Wooda is just a mile in land from Bude – We arrived on Sunday 20th May and set up camp in a fantastic corner spot that is so peaceful and private its like having your own land. We of course then set out exploring the local area on foot and happened to find a very nice local pub called the Preston Gate Inn which we have now booked for Bank Holiday Sunday dinner
Tuesday 22nd May – Trip to Boscastle, Benoath and Bossiney Cove
In 2004 Boscastle was the small Cornish fishing village that hit by the floods – news footage showed cars being swept from the carpark and out thru the village and into the sea – thankfully it is all now resorted and well worth a visit
Dinner BBQ style
BBQ night tonight so did my famous blue cheese burgers and decided to open a new bottle of Rum we bought in Wales – This rum has a local ingredient of seaweed and tastes absolutely fabulous – recommend to anyone who likes a sipping rum – obviously there is still plenty left for our friend Jo and Ash in Newquay.
Thursday 24th May – Trip to Padstow, Saint Issacs and surrounding beaches
Headed off south to visit a beach just on the the same bank of the river Camel as Padstow but further up the estuary – The beach did not disappoint and apart from 2 other people we where the only people on it – After that we made our way for a quick visit to Padstow and then moved on to Saint Issacs for lunch – Seafood platter an excellent choice by Nicky. While having our lunch we were surrounded by film crew – This is were they film Doc Martin, but this was for a new movie called ‘The Fishermans Friend’ staring James Purefoy and Daniel Mays. Google if you want to see what they have been in before but we did recognise them but did not managed to snap them.
