Our last site in England before we venture off across the channel to France. We chose this site as it was near Weymouth and close to some great beaches. We ventured into Weymouth on the number 8 bus and spent the afternoon exploring the shops and harbour – finishing the evening off with dinner in a harbour pub.
The next couple of days the weather was not great so we ventured out along the Dorset coast to visit beaches and small villages recommended to us by others on the campsite – our favourite was Durdle Door just next to Lulworth Cove – great beech and the sun came out as well…
Our last full day the weather was not great so we went exploring out thru Weymouth to Portland which is almost an island but joined to Weymouth by a causeway – not much there apart from a prison and a lighthouse…. We then ventured east to Poole as Nicky had always wanted to visit as she though it was posh – the shopping area did not really live up to the expectation of posh though. So I decided to drive a litter further to Sand Banks as I knew that was posh – looking at right move the average price for a house or even a flat was in the millions.
Monday 18th June was our last day in Fleet – we packed up and left late to travel to Portsmouth to catch the Le Havre ferry at 23:30 – However as we left the ATC control on the caravan started playing up but I manage to reset it so we could get to the port. Once there we waited and waited and waited to board – eventually at 01:00 am the next day we were on board in our dog friendly cabin setting sale for French France…. the story continues….
